Another Mardi Gras Season
How many ways are there to describe unleashed creativity? In New Orleans, creativity comes with our morning cup of Community (coffee) for those of you from elsewhere.
Krewe de Vieux celebrates XXX years walking through the streets of New Orleans! No one is allowed to escape the parody. Big Freedia, reigned over last night's festivities. Our Mayor, Mitch Landrieu, was immortalized with a giant column erupting from between his splayed legs.
Our citizens are battling it out over the removal of Robert E. Lee, General P.T. Beauregard, and other monuments around the city. This parody was titles, "Monumental Erection." Where do these ideas flow from? Is it too much caffeine, alcohol, or other mind altering substances?
BUT, I tell you, I laughed out LOUD as it rolled past! Propriety goes out of the window with sanctimoniousness. NOthing is sacred in New Orleans. If you take yourself too seriously, you will be way to uncomfortable in this city.
The above photo is the drone that flew over the parade and its observers last night. So for those of you who may be seeking a position in some election, beware, "they are watching you."
I delight in the new technology which allowed a video image of the Mayor on a very large screen tv as it rolled by.
I apologize for those of you who may be offended by this image, I no longer have to worry about the school teacher image. This former teacher enjoys learning from all sorts of people, even the nefarious.Actually, I have learned much from listening to those on the fringes. Interviewing the mostly frequently suspended students at H. L. Bourgeois High School helped me a lot. I like to hear the ideas and opinions of the Bubbas. Those are the ones described by a priest colleague of mine. He often said, "Listen to the people in the very back rows of the churches; they have a lot to share with those who are up front."
